Privacy Policy — Milk Log

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Milk Log is an Android app for keeping a daily record of milk deliveries. This policy explains what the app stores, where it is stored, and who can access it.

In short: Milk Log has no servers. Everything you enter stays on your phone unless you choose to back it up to your own Google Drive or share a bill yourself. The developer never receives your data and cannot see it.

Who is responsible

Milk Log is published by an independent developer. For any question about this policy or your data, contact: fullstacksensei@gmail.com

What the app stores

All of the following is stored in the app's private storage area on your device.

DataWhy
Delivery records — date, quantity in litres, rate per litre, optional note, and whether the day was delivered or skipped To show your calendar and calculate monthly totals
Customer details (Milk Business mode only) — name, phone number, default daily quantity, rate per litre To keep a separate record and bill for each customer
Payment records (Milk Business mode only) — which months a customer has settled To show outstanding amounts
Your settings — your name or shop name, default quantity and rate, reminder time, chosen mode To personalise bills and the daily reminder
Google account email address (only if you turn on Drive backup) To show which account backups are going to
If you use Milk Business mode, you are entering other people's names and phone numbers. That information stays on your device and in your own Google Drive. You are responsible for it, and you should only enter details of people who are aware you are keeping a record of their deliveries.

What the app does not do

Where your data can go

1. Your device

The primary copy lives in the app's private database on your phone. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

2. Your Downloads folder

The app writes a backup file named milklog-backup.json to your device's Downloads folder so your records survive if the app is removed. This file stays on your device. Because it is in a shared folder, other apps with storage access may be able to read it — delete it if that concerns you.

3. Your Google Drive (optional)

If you sign in and enable Drive backup, a copy of your records is uploaded to your own Google Drive. It is stored in the hidden application data folder, which means:

Milk Log requests only the drive.appdata permission. It cannot see, open, or modify any other file in your Google Drive. You can disconnect at any time using Sign out in Settings, and delete the stored data from your Google account settings under connected apps.

4. Android system backup

Android's built-in backup service may include Milk Log's data in your device backup, which is stored in your Google account. This is controlled by your phone's own backup settings, not by Milk Log.

5. Files you choose to share

When you generate a PDF bill or export a backup file, nothing is sent anywhere until you pick an app to share it with. Once you send it — by WhatsApp, email, or otherwise — that app's own privacy policy applies to it.

Permissions the app requests

PermissionReason
Internet / network stateOnly used to upload and download your Google Drive backup. The app does not connect to the internet for any other purpose.
NotificationsTo show the optional daily reminder to record your milk.
Run at startupTo restore your daily reminder schedule after the phone restarts.

How long data is kept

Your records are kept until you delete them. Deleting an entry, deleting a customer, or uninstalling the app removes the corresponding data from your device. Copies you have created — the Downloads file, a Drive backup, or a shared PDF — are not affected and must be deleted separately.

Your control over your data

Children

Milk Log is a record-keeping tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
